Random Thoughts

Have you ever noticed that some of the crazy passwords they have you type in to comment on other blogs sometimes seem like actual words? Tonight, I posted a comment on Pinky's blog and the word it had me type in was "squerse". Now, to the average person, this would in noway resemble a word. But, for me, it brought up a funny memory.

Last summer (2007), we were at the family cabin. I had come home for a visit from New Jersey- where I was living at the time- and my friend Tammy came with me. My brother, sister-in-law, their kids and a couple of the kids friends were there as well. We went out on to the porch and were feeding the squirrels peanuts. We'd put one on the deck, the step, etc. and they would come up and get them. They would usually stay right there and eat them. (Even with the loud exclamations from the kids.) They would only run away if you approached them or made sudden movements. Anyway, my then 4 year old niece Megan would ask us what we were doing. We told her, "feeding the squirrels." She'd cock her head to the side and ask, "feeding the squerse?" Then she'd scream "squerse!" at them every time they'd come up on the porch and grab a nut. It was so funny!
